I live in Tampa now and occasionally we will drive up to Sanford and I cannot believe how much it has changed. You would not believe that the base was ever a base. The barracks a cement block building is still there but every thing else has been replaced. We even made a road trip up to Albany Ga. and once again the base is gone. Albanians did not like the Navy being there because we flew at night and the Air Force did not........

Didn't make that trip. Stupid ma went to shore dity at Sanford. Didn't want to take the chance. Stupid, as I could have "homesteaded" at Sanford long before it was "invented".
