I had the same thing happen at VT-6. One of our planes came in on a weekend. I was on duty in the ready room, turned around looked out the window to see him just sitting there with no plane captain to bring him in. All of the sudden, somebody ran out there and brought him in who wasn’t even a plane captain. I still don’t know how it ended.
Thank you so much, John. I really appreciate that. My father has this photo framed on the mantle. I'll pass this along to him so he'll know the rest of the story.
I hope this finds you well. Happy holidays to you.

"Andy,
I was going over some old issues and came across this photo of 601 parked on the flight line at NAS Alameda. I don't know who took the photo but it was during carrier quals in prior to a Westpac in 72-73 going to Vietnam. I don't remember…"
"Larry, Sorry it took so long for me to reply, I only check my email on a hit or miss basis. At any rate I think I remember you, Its been a long time. I worked in P/P night check and spent most of my time on the flight deck troubleshooting. I got…"
"Rick, Good to hear from a fellow bat. I spent most of my time on the flight deck at night. Worked with Johnny Duncan and Pat Summers but I don't know where they are and haven't hear from either in many many years. I was the QA for the power…"

John,
This from my father when I shared your message:

JOHN,
I was aboard RVAH13 the same timeframe as you but I was in AQ shop as greenshirt on the flightdeck.
Hello John, I was assigned to RVAH-13 in '72-'73 working in Q.A. (and cat checker)
as rep from Power Plants. I do remember you although we didn't interact much, seems
that they kept the Q.A. guys confined to even smaller spaces than most other people.
Hope you are doing well.
