The last time I spoke with Jim Carter was around 1996/7 when I tracked him down. He was living back up in his home state of New York. I believe he was living in Binghamton, but I have lost track of him since then.
The night before Marvin Brown got out of the Navy in 1975 I took him into Key West for a couple of goodbye beers. We hung out at a few bars for a while but then I had to get back to the base, and that was the last time I saw him. I think he was from one of the Carolinas, he was a good `ol boy.
I took the picture and I'm also not positive where it was. Might be the mess hall in Key West from looking at it. See other people that look a bit familiar and there are tables and looks like the chow line in the background as there is a napkin dispensor there too. I have lots and lots more in albums and boxes. Am slowly going through some of them and scanning them.
Was just informed that a shipmate of ours, Albert "Salt" Saltalmachea RVAH-6 1972-75, passed away last night after a long battle with illness. No other details available. Fair winds and following sea AL I'm gonna miss you!!
