Still haven't assembled the model. I look at it every time I open the closet door in my computer room and think "I need to get on that" and I will. Have had some health problems but hopefully will be fully recovered soon. Tim
Hey Buddy ! Good to hear from you. Not cooking at present time due to medical issues but plan to get back in the kitchen again soon or maybe teach. Still down here on the Gulfcoast living on 2 beautidul acreas, if you ever come down south, give me a holler, Hooters are always welcome
Dean: Great to hear form you and thank you for your very kind note. I am very happy that I found the RECCENET portal since my days with the Hoot Owls were some of my best memories of my years in the Navy. Hope to get to see you in person soon. Tim
Dean: Thanks for the reply! I'll meet you for a cup after the first of the year. I remember that Vigi ride. We live in a beautiful part of the country!
Welcome aboard! I always think about you as I drive south past the Sunyside/Turner exit on I-5. I do that frequently as I regularly call on golf courses in Oregon. My wife and I live in Bremerton (our home town). I ran into Bill Key several years back in the barber shop in Bremerton. Hope that you are doing well!
Dean, good to hear from you; thanks for your kind words. Hope being a mustang helped the way we interacted; I always respected the 'troops' and did my best to guard you from some of the nonsense you probably never knew about. You all were the best! Attached a couple photos of the aircraft you referred to in your message. My dad (and Phil's dad) were aboard Nimitz for a week prior to departing to the Med in '76; he took the photos of Lt Palmatier and myself for this particular launch. I was aware of both K+11 and Palmatier; I still have trouble with the loss of "Jet". I found out about that when I was trying to reconnect with him a few years back prior to the Sandford reunion. Quite proud to hear of your post-Navy accomplishments - well done!
"Don't know if you'll get notified about this message.
Anyway, I've remarried after my wife passed away and we've moved to St George, Utah. Are you still in Flagstaff? If we ever get through there perhaps could meet for a cup of coffee?
"Ha ha! I had the same experience with that model. You might be able to find someone through a hobby shop that would put it together for you. Anyway, good to hear from you again and hope you're well soon."
"Welcome aboard Skipper! I'm the guy that threw a rock, courtesy the squadron lawn mower, through your car's window in Albany. Man, I thought I was going to start off my life at H-9 in deep deep doo doo. You were very cool about it. Last time we…"
"Welcome aboard Mr. Baker! I served with you when I was in h-9 from 73-77 as a Photo Interpreter/Intelligence Specialist. I'm pretty impressed with your service record after 9! Always good to see some names I recognize."
"Hi there Skipper! I'm surprised that you even remember me or even where I live! The one time I was privileged to ride back seat in the Vigi was with you and borrowing Geopfarth's flight suit. That was a great time to remember. I did my 4 years…"
"Just noticed you live in Flagstaff! I was within a few miles of your place this June when I took my telescope down to the Grand Canyon for the annual star party! If I'd known it would have been cool to meet for a cup of coffee or such! Oh well."
"Forgot that you were a mustang and, since I only did my 4 years and that was long ago, I couldn't remember what that meant until I looked it up on Google! And yes, I guess I'm not aware of what you might have kept from happening to some of us! But…"
"Hello Mr. Geopfarth! This is Dean Kelly. I was a PT/IS in H-9 from 73 - 79. I've wondered what has happened to fellow shipmates and it's really cool to find people here. After I got out of the Navy I moved back to Oregon, got married, went a…"
