Hello Delbert, I am reaching out fort one of our fallen officer that was with us in the FIVE on the Ranger. Lt. Nick Mergo, ring a bell? He flew second seat and the family is looking for ANY info you could provide. He help locate/search for one of our downed airplanes, maybe that helps. let me know and I will pass iit on or provide you there contact info. Thanks in advance for helping. Hope you are doing well.
Hello Del, I don't know if you remember me but we worked together on the 64-65 cruise on the Ranger. In fact we are in the same cruise book picture only I am the second from the left and your second from the right. Hope all has gone well for you. Ever hear from Tex, Frank Turner etc.
I reported to RVAH-14 aboard the USS JFK in Sep. 1972, made the 1973/74 INDY Med Cruise, and finished my assignment with RVAH-14 at NAS Key West on May 1, 1974. Upon decommissioning I was transferred to the USS Yosemite AD-19 in Mayport, FL, and three weeks later I was on my way back to the Med. I finished my Naval enlistment March 15,1975. After returning to civilian life and completing college I had serious thoughts of going back in as an officer, but signed on with General Electric and spent 30 years retiring in 2007.
Hello Del, I worked with Danny J. Satcher, Frank Turner, Frank Madigan, Tex Herrin we were all in the line crew. I always worked night on the cruise's we made.(1963-1966) I stayed in the aerospace field when I got out for over 49 years...loved it.
Take care and Thank you for your service.... Bob B.
I unfortunately didn't make it to a Viggie Squadron..I was in VAH 6...started out at NAS WHIDBEY...when we Med Cruised w/USS FORRESTAL in 64'-65' I opted to get discharged instead of re-enlisting...something I've kicked my self in the butt for ever since ...As soon as the Cruise was over...or there abouts was when VAH 6 went to the VIGGILANTE...and RVAH 6...
Chief Hayes - No, I was not (knowingly, anyway) the "frog". I'm sure I generated a lot of nicknames during my tour in RVAH-12, however. Good to hear from you. Keep in touch.

I have several pictures I took while with RVAH-14 from 1972 thru May 1974 that I need to get digitized and post.
