I was in Heavy 7 from 1960 until 1964. Then NAS Sanford Supply, "Nam, and VP-8. Went to Operation Springboard with them, and I believe you were in charge of Component Control at PR. Clyde Funk worked for you.
Back then, parts from tor Rotatable Pool were on a 1for1 basis, but you let me slide for which I'm grateful. Got a good addition to my resume for that which led to my making AKC!
I was in RVAH-9 on the USS Ranger on the West Pac Cruise in 1968. I'm trying locate my shipmates from the air frames division. I recently put in a claim to the VA for over exposure to Toluene, as we used the chemical to wash the RA5-C with rags and a bucket of Toluene or MEK on a daily basis. I was recently treated for postrate cancer and suffered for many years with depression and cognitive learning deficits. I only found out about the long term effects of toluene just recently which is absorbed through the skin and mimics the symptoms I experienced. Of course my claim was denied. So I'm trying locate my airframes shipmates (AMS) to document the procedure we used of washing the aircraft by hand with Toluene, as its long term effects are well documented.
