Sure is the Bear from RVAH 9 days....here is a update:

I was selected for Chief aboard USS RANGER in 69, made CWO in 70 and retired in 83 as a LT SC..Our son is retired GMCM NAVY SEAL ... fully retired in 2006 as Director, Precommissioning Facility DDG 51 New Construction shipbuilding program at Bath, Maine...now, work full time for the Little Lady and honey due lists. Great memories from good times with wonderful Shipmates. Bear Hastings

Jimmy, thanks for the note. I was an AQ-2. We made the '70 Saratoga Med cruise, and the '71 and '72 Med cruises. We (AQ group) made the full Saratoga cruise and were put off in Rota on the '71 and '72 cruises. The '71 and '72 cruises were on the Ranger and Forrestal. In between the cruises, we (RVAH-9) were in NAS Albany. I drove a '72 Nova during that time. Norman Hammock
