John, I plan on coming to the next renunions. I live in Greenville, New York (about 35 miles southwest of Albany) but now spend the winters in Oro Valley Arizona. Retired last year. Can't take the cold and snow anymore.
Love to listen to Palen's speeches, went to the Tea Party rally they had in Albany last summer. Thanks for getting back to me.
Hi John, I was in H-5 as an ADJ in the power plants shop during the 67-68 and 69-70 West Pacs on the Connie and Ranger. I remember Marques, Carter, Woodside, O'Connor, Walker, the Ballesteros brothers. One was in my shop and the other I believe became a plane captain also.. Chief Russell (Rickets) always looked like he was never going to make the rest of the cruise.
Respotting the planes and pulling those bomb bay cans, hoping all the fuel had been transferred out of them, so the tweets could get inside the bomb bay to fix their gear was always something to look forward to..
Enjoy the summer!!
John; just had to say hi! been awhile. I see your knee deep snow and other Chicago weather;;;; Hope all's going well for you. I'll be back soon. I spend a lot of time on face book, it's free and communications much easier. Join as my friend if you're not already on line. I spend far too much time playing these silly addicting games on facebook, but it lets me stay in contact with my family, brothers, nieces, nephews, etc.... have a warm day!
John; what happened was I got out in 04/71 and worked in a foundrey busting my a** and freezing up in Manistee, Michigan. So I went back in 03/72 with H-13 and went back to VN on the Big E. made 2nd & the Ranger boat again in 74. Took shore duty at NAS Whiting Field in Milton, Fla for 3 yrs made First, worked on T-28s. Stan White was there also, seems we couldn't get rid of each other. Then I went to VF-11 in Oceana for 10 months and got out again cause I didn't want to be in Va. Spent 6 months doing nothing than went back in again in 07/80 and back to some more shore duty in VT-4 Nas P-cola with T-2s & TA4-J's. Went on a lot of det's out to El Centro, Cal. Then took orders to VA-66 in Cecil Field, Fla on A7-E's and deployed on the IKE for 2 deployments to the MED, selected for CPO in 85. Then to NARF P-cola for 3 yrs worked for FRAG office chasing aircraft parts, advanced to Senior Chief in 89, then ordered to HCT-16 on the other end of the base on P-cola, spent 2 years there on the Sea Det side of the house went aboard the LEX for training purposes, then I called it quits @ 22.5 years on 30 April 91 @ Midnight...... Hope this gives you an idea of how easy it was & there is more about the adventures I had and some more crazy people I met, all good people except "one";; John you have a "MERRY CHRISTMAS" and a warm day!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi John ! At the time of the photo, I was in the A3 squadron, It was a couple of years later that I was given the photo when I was in RVAH-3. I believe the photo is now on one of the web sites. My tour in 5 was in Key West as it was de commissioned.
John; my wife bought the Palin disc, this way she narriates the book for me, more enjoyable this way. Have a Merry Christmas and a warm day. Cold as hell down here in south central Texas down to 32 and lower tonight. Stay healthy and live the sweet life!!!!
"Hey Marvin,
I do remember you. Maybe we will see you at the next reunion. In addition to the RVAH renunions there will also be one for NAS Sanford, which I think has a separate website.
Keep in touch.
John."
"That's pretty interesting. I will look for that website, if you know the address send it. I checked your profile, did you do 20 years?
I went to the reunion last Summer and had a pretty good time of it. It was better than I thought it would be, and…"
"Ron,
Reference the photo of the launch on cat 2. Is that plane 149307? Is so I think you painted my name on as the plane captain for that Ranger cruise. Where did you find the photo?
Have a good holiday.
Ciffone."
"The Palin book is pretty good. I have a Palin 2012 bumper sticker and get at least two or three thumbs up a day from other drivers.
Marques should have some pretty good photos of the reunion. It was good, you'll have to go to the next one.
By…"
"Hey Rich,
Yes I am a Palin supporter. I did support and vote for McCain & Palin. However I have been very disappointed in McCain since his defeat as I think he and his staff blamed Palin for the defeat. The reality of it was that she was the one…"
