I remember you well. I thought I had reached out to you several years ago when first signed up in Reccenet. I am doing well for an old guy. I'll be 75 this Friday. I am totally retired now as of the 31st of March, (my 3rd retirement). I retired from the military in 1982, then retired as Director of Operations for a manufacturing corp. in 2011, and then from a part time position with Dept of Tourism in March. My health is good for the shape I'm in. I am 80% disabled with the VA due to some problems associated with my Viet Nam service with the US Army. I got out of the navy in 1969 and went in the army. I have 3 grown children and 2 grown step children, 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. I live in south-side Virginia.
Good to hear from you. Let me hear back and know how you are doing. I am on facebook and my email is bkelehar@pure.net
Richard, Hope you are doing well. I believe you may remember one of our shipmates that lives in Fla. also, his name is Charles Knight? Do you know him? Have you spoken to him lately or have his e-mail? I believe he & I went on the same OFFSHIP duty and I would like to speak with him.
Didn't make the reunion, too sick to go, maybe next time.
Drop me a line sometime if you think of it. @ don_ddms@yahoo.com..
Hey Richard, how you doing today? Hope everything is fine with you.
Last time we talked you mentioned a discussion about Agent Orange, so I thought I would follow up. I am still waiting for any reply from the VA, but no answers.
Any news from your end. I know one of our shipmates has his claim back at the RO of Columbia S.C. but I don't have his name, the V.A. won't provide.
I left VAH-9 from Sanford in June of 1960. As far as I know, they went to Albany, GA after Sanford was closed. I never heard of them being at Whidbey Island.
"I was in heavy 5 out of Sanford, Fl. I worked in the Monroe Sheriff's office after the Navy and was the Sgt in Key west. Let me know if you gets going I might just go anyway. Key west is a great place to visit and party. I'm getting a little old for…"
"Hi Stick: Enjoyed your news letter and the history lesson. I was in for 7 years and enjoyed every second. I too should have stayed in. But we all do silly things when we are young. Keep up the good work with this site.
