Howdy Mike. It was sure good to hear from you. I emailed you but I really dont trust my computer very much. How have you been? We missed each other in Corpus by about 3 years. LOL I tried to get to Widbey Island but on my last cruise I broke my ankle and leg before we pulled into Australia and that put me out of the SAR business. I even tried to get there to fly as a plane captain in the A-6 navigator trainer but that didn't pan out either. So I went back to the DEPOT flying test flights. I wrote a lot more in my email and trying not to repeat what I put in it. When will you retire from the postal service? Is that young pilot with you in some of your pictures your son or relative?
You take care. I'll email you again soon and give you my phone numbers.
Hello Mike. Do you remember me? We worked in airframes together. For some reason I think Al gave me the nickname of "MadPup". LOL I left H-5 and started flying the CH-46 helicopters at NAS North Island. My first three years was flying test flights and qualifying in the CH-46 and 53 helicopters. Then to HC-11 for two cruises, then off to NAS Corpus Christi, TX flying SAR in the UH-1N. Then did a reverse and went back the the same way. I finally retired in '91 flying test flights. As much as I loved working on the Vigi, I really loved flying.
I retired again about 5 years ago from the medical field as a Respiratory Therapist and Sleep technician. I will be retiring again in about 5 years and sell my gunsmith shop. Then I'll do more fishing and hunting.
How have you been? Were you in Corpus Christi or around there? If so when.
I was in 5 from August 75 to June 77. I worked in Admin and Ops. I worked with Danny Lucas, Paul Bruner, Tony Reeves, James (Vann) Vanderburg, Jim Keller, Mike Muccigrosso, and Curt (Kevin's Brother) Pruitt. I did the workups and the 76 bi-centennial cruise. I was there for Cdr Shattuck, Henson and Gastrock as skippers.
