Little Louie, don't know if you remember me but you were in my shop in heavy seven on the med cruise. you were a good sailor. I lived in Sicily for 5 years and loved it. Would love to hear from you (901) 487-3065 Carl Holland U.S.N. Retired
I don't know if you remember me but you were always such a nice guy to me. At the time we knew each other I was PT3 Charles. You may remember that just before we went on the Med cruise in '68, I asked if I could borrow $10 to stay in Sanford overnight instead of the barracks. You lent it to me without hesitation. When payday came around, I immediately paid you back and you said how much you appreciated that.
From time to time I wonder what ever happened to some of my shipmates. I see a few are members of this organization. How have you been?
I have kept in touch with a few PT's from Heavy 7 over the years like John Meyer. I accidentally ran into Lash Larue in a Houston mall when I was building a store there. I have run into a few other guys who were in out squadron over the years like Mike Shinn who was a Personalman.
As for me, after I got out in August of 1970, I joined the Naval Reserves in January of 1971. After college I received a commission as an Intel Officer and retired as a Lieutenant Commander in 1993. I had several jobs over the years but I finally started an electronics company in 1998 and we manufacture controls and instruments primarily for the Cement, Mining and Power industries. My website is www.westecinstruments.com. I turn 65 in a couple of weeks but I enjoy working and selling this equipment and only have to answer to my wife. So retirement is not in the near future. We have 2 kids and one grandson and fly out to San Francisco about every 2 months to visit them. Better than living there.
When I used to go on Acdutra I often ran into a few guys you may remember. Commander Scruggs (by then Captain) at the Pentagon, Commander Zophy at JRB Fort Worth. He died about 10 years ago. That's all I can remember.
It would be nice to hear from you. Give me a shout at 817-637-7392 sometime or just email me at wes@westecinstruments.com.
