  • GEE , DONALD , I worked for Boeing & Lockheed in between layoffs in the airline / aviation business ! At Boeing was the early bunch of  747's , at Lockheed later was the L-1011's early bunch !  Was Paine Field , Wash. state [ old Air Force base ] the other Lockheed at Palmdale , Cal. near Edwards air base in desert ! A Happy Birthday too you !

  •      Yes !!!! You remember one late afternoon when I was tasked to disconnect port fuel tank on our plane up in Cubi,  I wound up dumping gallons of JP-5 on the flight line; after which firemen came over to douse the fuel on the ground with foam ! Boy, did I almost drown in that incident and it was not even a Tonkin Gulf "man overboard" situation. To this day I could not imagine how the shut off valve sprung open after I shut it closed!  Let me you, that was some lesson I'd never forget. During my civilian employment with McDonnell Douglas Corp and Boeing Co. as aircraft mechanic I made doubly sure valves stayed open or close when meant to be!

        Good to hear from you!

  • Were you a CWO at Heavy 12 and led a small detachment crew in Cubi off the ship?
