  • Hi Don,

My wife and i live in Jacksonville Fl.. We moved here in 1981 working in HS 9  . I recieved a med discharge in 1984 and we stayed put to give the kids a stable home to get through school.

  • Hello Lt Brumbaugh . Glad to see you here Where are you now? Just last week I was recounting some stories from our days in H-5 with some folks at work. I run a truck stop repair shop and occasionally run into others who have served. So far none from H-5 but 5-6 from other commands who were stationed aboard the Connie and the Ranger with us. One remembered an incident where you were tasked with running off a Russian AGI  by doing a supersonic flyby to "peacefully" encourage it to leave us alone as we were trying to refuel a smallboy that was extremely low on fuel.

Hi Mr. Brumbaugh.  I remember when you and (I think) Skipper Ausley and a couple of us white hats were hanging about outside the hangar.  They had a couple of Tomcats (they were brand new) that were flying over Boca Chica and you asked if you go up and play with them.  I was hoping he'd let you go!  I still think you would at least let them know you were in the area.  Glad to see you are still about and kicking.

"Hi Steve,  The mustache comes and goes.  It is currently all grey.  Those were some great times back in H-5!!  All the best."

"Hi Kevin,  You guys did a great job keeping our A-5s in the air!  That was a very sophisticated aircraft and we had the best maintenance people in the Navy.  I flew a lot of high and low level missions.  Mach 2 at altitude is one thing, but 750 KIAS…"
