Hannah Palmer Rottman, 77 years old, and Louis Paul Rottman, 80, departed this life for their final trip together on October 13 and 14, 2023, respectively. Lou and Hannah met on the Colorado College campus where she got her bachelor’s degree in zoology while he finished his business degree at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Lou joined the Navy after graduation and was a RAN in the RA5 during Vietnam before he returned to Colorado to continue a career in contract mediation and personnel management. Hannah taught science at Cole Middle School for many years before moving to George Washington High School.
Both Hannah and Lou shared a passion for travel, learning, and educating others. Lou loved to spend time on the tennis courts, football field, ice rink, and ski slope. Hannah’s focus was on her garden and artwork. No matter what interest they were pursuing, though, they loved it even more when they could share it together with their extended family and many friends.
Preceded in death by their parents, they are survived by two daughters, Susan Wickberg and Jennifer Rottman; son-in-law Art Wickberg; grandchildren A. Paul Wickberg and Katy Wickberg; as well as many siblings and numerous nieces and nephews.
It is altogether fitting that after 55 years of marriage, these soulmates passed within hours of each other.
The funeral mass will be held at 10am on Friday, October 20 at Queen of Peace. Visitation and rosary will be from 5-7:30 pm on Thursday, November 2 at Horan & McConaty, and burial services will be on November 3 at Fort Logan Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider donating to ALS or Alzheimer's research, or that you plant a flower or tree in memory of Lou and Hannah.
