George Barnash Geer, 70, of Pensacola, FL, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2017 while enjoying his daily run.

He was born August 1, 1946 in Bridgeport, CT to Dr. William and Mrs. Irene Geer. He graduated from Stratford High School in 1964 and Yale University in 1968 where he received a Bachelor's degree in American Studies and was active on the crew team. After graduating from Yale, he was commissioned into the US Navy and became a Naval Flight Officer, serving in the Vietnam War. After leaving the Navy, he attended University of West Florida earning a Master's in Computer Science and had a fulfilling 35 year career as a Software Application Engineer at UWF, retiring in late 2015. UWF held a special place in his heart as an alumnus, employee, parent, fan and friend to so many.

George was an avid runner, lifelong athlete, music lover, sports fan, JRPG gamer and amazing family man.

He is survived by his three children: Jennifer (Ben) Krohn, Jessica (Jeremy) Niles, and Gabriel (Katie) Geer; the mother of his children: Starr Jacobus; 6 grandchildren: Olivia, Josie, James, Henry, Nathan and Nick; his surviving siblings: Dave, Wanda and Tom Geer and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Bill and Bob Geer.

A visitation for friends and family will be held on Friday, July 14 from 3-5pm at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. His remains will be interred at Barrancas National Cemetery at a later date.
