He was my CO in RVAH-9 and a really great one. He made CAG and was Captian, USS America. We were good friends and met once after we both retired. RIP, Bill.
Not only one of the best Naval officers that I served under, but also one of the finest men that I ever have met. Always enjoyed the time with him when he would explain the various things about Naval aviation to me as a young enlisted guy.
Per my facebook comments, one of the best Naval officers I ever had the pleasure of knowing.
