ATCS Herbert Milford "Bart" Mason, USN Retired
Mr. Herbert Milford "Bart" Mason, age 76, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Friday, November 13th, 2015 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Columbus, Georgia.
Mr. Mason was born on May 15, 1939 in Langdale, Alabama to the late Herbert Joel Mason and Jewell Colley Mason.
Upon graduating from Valley High School, he joined the United States Navy and subsequently retired as an Aviation Electronics Senior Chief, having served his country 21 years and 3 months. Mr. Mason was a resident of Langdale, Alabama, until 1958 when he enlisted in the United States Navy. In April of 1959, he married his high school sweetheart, Elora Weldon, of Fairfax.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elora Weldon Mason; son and daughter-in-law, Joel and Jo Mason, Roswell, GA.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby, George, and Bill Mason and one sister, Lola Fetner.
A graveside service will be held at Fairfax Cemetery on Tuesday, November 17th, 2015 at 2:00P.M. (EST). The Rev. Rusty Letson officiating. The family will be receiving friends at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley on Tuesday from 12:00P.M. (EST) until 1:45P.M. (EST).
