I just wanted to share this with all my shipmates!
I recently lost a friend, more like a brother, that was also in the Navy! His name is William "Bill" Londergan! He and I met while we stationed together in Adak Alaska, and we always remained close. He was also from Massachusetts. In fact, I introduced him to his wife, for she was a friend of Penny's. They were married until he passed away in 2009. He served aboard the USS Shangri-la, and was a cook. In fact, his ship, the Shangri-la was on line with the America; we got to see each other during WestPac in 1970. He was actually one of those guys who WOULD give you the shirt off his back.
Just wanted to share that. I always thing of the verse, “here's wishing you a happy voyage home” when I remember Bill.

not too many "give you the shirt off their backs" people left. Shame.
